Ready-mix concrete
Facts about ready-mix concrete
Note! Unhardened concrete has a high PH level and can have a caustic effect and cause irritation on direct contact with skin.
Always use correct protective equipment when you are working with ready-mixed concrete:
- protective glasses,
- gloves,
- boots,
- work clothes covering arms and legs,
- non-absorbent knee protection.
Did you know that…
- A concrete mixer truck can be over 10 meters long, 4 meters high and weigh over 30 tons. Something to think about when you order concrete delivery.
- The concrete pump truck is often a good supplement to the delivery.
- As a separate service, along with the concrete pump, additional hoses are provided for conveying concrete over a long distance or in hard-to-reach places.
- Fresh concrete may be transported several hours after being mixed, but that depends on the temperature and additives.
- Consistency or slump test describes how stiff the concrete is, ranging from 80 mm which is like damp sand to 250 mm which is almost liquid.
- The reduced crushed stone down to 25% and 50% means that the proportion of the coarse gravel is reduced so that the concrete is more even (requires more cement resulting in a higher price).
